Performers take the stage on a festival street in Portland, Oregon.
Two streets in Chinatown, Davis and Flanders, were transformed with
special pavement, granite plinth entrance features, and an absence
of curbs. Most of the time they serve as calm local streets, but they
can be closed to automobiles and then serve as a large level area
for special events. In a neighborhood with little public space set
aside for parks, the public space of the streets can serve multiple
functions.
